Frequently Asked Questions

While there are no dumb questions, there certainly are common ones. This page will address the most common issues and questions. If you still have a question, please feel free to click the "Contact Us" link and send us an email.

1.

When will it be held?

The hike will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018.  You meet at the Harper's Ferry Railroad Station parking lot at 3:00 AM and, if you have paid for your shuttle, will be transported by the shuttle company (see Home page's "Trailhead Shuttle Service for Participants" section for details) in time for the 4:00 AM start time at Pen Mar park.

2.

Do I have to hike the entire 41 miles?

No. There will be support stations every 10-15 miles, so registered participants can get a ride to the end from any of them.

3.

How do we get to the start of the hike?

Transportation is handled by River & Trails Outfitters.

To register for transportation, please click here.

The cost is $15.00.

4.

Do I need to bring water and food for the entire hike?

No. At each support station, registered participants will have the opportunity to get as much water, electrolytes, and snack food as they wish to consume there and carry with them on the next section. The group typically takes a 10- to 15-minute break when they reach each support station, so you will have time to drink and eat something before taking off again.

5.

Where do I go to start?

Participants meet at the Harpers Ferry railroad station parking lot at 3 a.m. to pick up the shuttle service (see item 3 above) that delivers them to Pen Mar Park. The event starts from Pen Mar Park at 4 a.m.
